ICE MAP EDITORIALBased on the current official-store snapshot
Find a good scoop
in the right order.
This is not a copy of chain listings. It is ICE MAP’s decision guide, built from store snapshots, service lists, and the way official flavor updates actually work. It explains what to check first, when to verify again, and what public data cannot promise.
START WITH THE RIGHT ICE
First decide what kind of ice you want.
Search results often mix soft serve, gelato, and shaved ice. Their texture, service model, and best search method are different.Fresh soft serve
Dispensed from a machine in the store. Machine location, current mix, cleaning, and sell-outs matter. Only selected FamilyMart and 7-ELEVEN stores in Taiwan offer it.
Gelato
Usually displayed in several flavors at a specialist shop, with a denser texture and stronger ingredient focus. Search by city, flavor, and shop character—not by convenience-store equipment.
Shaved ice and local styles
Toppings, ice texture, and serving rituals reflect the destination. Choose the city first when looking for bubble ice, hot-and-cold ice, fruit ice, or traditional ice desserts.
A FOUR-CHECK METHOD
Four checks that reduce wasted trips.
Public data can narrow the search dramatically, but it cannot see a machine being cleaned or the final serving selling out. This is the sequence behind the ICE MAP store finder.- 01
Check the flavor the chain currently publishes
The flavor page requests the official public page again on every visit. It answers what the chain is promoting, not whether one store has stock right now.
Avoid expecting a finished campaign - 02
Narrow stores by equipment and limited lists
FamilyMart supports single-flavor, dual-flavor, and limited-candidate filters. 7-ELEVEN uses its own official service-store list. The labels are not interchangeable.
Keep only stores with matching equipment - 03
Recheck the chosen store in the official locator
A store card links back to the relevant chain source. Treat it as a strong candidate only when the store name, number, and address still agree.
Catch renamed stores and service changes - 04
Call when the trip depends on one flavor
For a long detour or a limited release, a phone call is still closest to the present moment. Cleaning, mix shortages, and same-day sell-outs are not reliably published.
Reduce the final uncertainty
FAMILYMART OR 7-ELEVEN
The two chains reward different search strategies.
The better choice depends on today’s goal and on which chain publishes the signal you need.FamilyMart Taiwan
- Best for
- Regional flavors, dual-flavor machines, and limited-store candidates.
- Watch for
- Changeover timing, limited mix, and machine condition can still differ by store.
- Choose it when
- Start here when you want a mix, a regional release, or a limited candidate.
7-ELEVEN Taiwan
- Best for
- Official service lists for Snow Cream and Cold Stone soft serve candidates.
- Watch for
- A listed service does not make flavor, hours, or machine status identical at every store.
- Choose it when
- Use it when you already prefer 7‑ELEVEN or its candidates are closer to your route.
WHAT THE SNAPSHOT REVEALS
2,952 stores tell a more useful story than one total.
ICE MAP recalculates the current verifiable store snapshot into ratios that help with an actual store choice. This is original site analysis—not a sales ranking and not proof of live inventory. The candidate network is not a 50–50 split
The snapshot contains 1,914 FamilyMart and 1,038 7‑ELEVEN candidates; FamilyMart represents about 64.8%. Use distance for the nearest scoop, but FamilyMart offers finer equipment filters.
Dual-flavor machines are a minority
595 dual-flavor candidates equal about 31.1% of the FamilyMart list. If a twist is the goal, the dedicated filter is far more efficient than checking stores one by one.
The limited-candidate list is genuinely narrow
Current candidates are split across north 7, central 6, south 2, and east 1. A short list makes a direct store check especially valuable.
WHERE THE NETWORK ACTUALLY IS
Candidates exist nationwide, but access is uneven.
Grouping the official service lists by county reveals where a nearest-store search is enough and where a backup matters more. This measures candidate distribution—not population, sales, or live availability.01 North

The densest candidate network. In metro areas, sort by distance first, then narrow by chain or dual-flavor equipment instead of betting on one store.

The smallest candidate pool leaves little room for a machine pause. Treat the list as a planning note, never as a stock promise.
Regions are assigned from the county in each store address. North, central, south, east, and the offshore islands add up to the current snapshot. A larger count still does not prove live stock.
THE 22-CITY APPENDIX
All 22 counties and cities, without hiding the gaps.
Regional totals show the shape of the network; city-level counts make a trip usable. This table is recalculated from the same official-store candidate snapshot and sorted by total. It shows where a backup may be easier to find—not which counter has stock now.The six metros carry most candidates
Together they account for 2,142 candidates, or 72.6% of the current snapshot. Distance-first works well in a metro; elsewhere, save a second candidate before leaving.
The largest city-level candidate network
New Taipei currently leads with 538 candidates. That means more alternatives—not the highest per-capita access, sales, or live availability.
Dual flavor is not the default
Dual-flavor candidates make up 20.2% of all searchable stores. Use the equipment filter when a swirl matters instead of treating every candidate as equivalent.

Counts move when official store sources are synchronized. A smaller count does not mean no service, and a larger count does not mean the flavor you want is available now.
BUILD A CITY ICE ROUTE
Turn one shop into a memorable ice route.
The city guide is not a ranking. ICE MAP selects places for local relevance, a distinctive ice style, and a source that can be checked.Choose one theme
Start with inventive old-school ice cream in Taipei, tea and fruit gelato in Tainan, or a large shared ice bowl by Kaohsiung’s harbor. One theme makes the route easier to remember.
One rich, one refreshing
For two stops in one day, begin with dairy or chocolate and finish with fruit, tea, or shaved ice. It is more balanced than two dense dairy desserts in a row.
Save a nearby alternative
Even famous shops can queue, sell out, or close unexpectedly. Save a different ice style in the same district so the day does not depend on one counter.
OUR EDITORIAL STANDARD
What information earns a place on ICE MAP.
More search results do not automatically mean better guidance. Every published item must separate its source, interpretation, and limits.Official sources first
Store services, flavors, products, and chain policies start with official pages. City shops use their own pages, tourism authorities, or traceable local records.
Facts and advice stay separate
Opening dates and service lists are verifiable facts. A first-order suggestion is editorial advice and is never presented as a chain statement.
A candidate is not a guarantee
When public data cannot show live inventory, ICE MAP says candidate, possible, or check in store. It does not manufacture certainty.
Dates reflect the material reviewed
Store snapshots, product pages, and city picks have different review cycles. We update the relevant date after checking that section instead of pretending the whole site was reviewed at once.
This guide is independently written by the ICE MAP Editorial Desk from public sources and the site’s store snapshot. It is not an official chain statement and does not claim live store inventory.
